The Jewel in the Crown
Crown currency is a retail currency exchange with 13 locations across south east Queensland. Unfortunately, this pitch didn’t pass muster, but I always liked the mark so have included it here. This project was developed whilst working at Eightball.
Logo Design, Brand Identity, Web Design.
The rebrand for Crown involved developing a new logo and creating a professional identity to back it up. I created a mark that was a minimal crown icon integrated with a rotating set of arrows to represent exchange. Working with their key colour, a rich canary yellow, I paired the new icon with a modern serif typeface set in black. Finally, a humanist font was selected for the strapline, giving a sans serif for body type and modernising the brand overall.
The print materials consisted predominantly of flyers and handouts as well as posters and instore signage. A mock storefit was also created to demonstrate how the brand could rollout to the physical premises. Using the striking colour scheme of yellow and black as a backbone, the print identity is minimal and type-based, with an emphasis on the corporate colour for brand equity.
The online presence is an extension of the brand identity, relying on type, colour, bold design and colourized photography to humanise promotions.
