The Beer and Dumpling Revolution
Little Red Dumpling is a smart casual dumpling bar in the Sunnybank area. Looking to appeal to both ethnic and local demographics, I was approached to come up with a name and identity that would be unique and understated with memorable qualities. This project was undertaken whilst working at Eightball.

The idea here is tongue and cheek on the edge of risque. The name is based off the ‘little red book’ from the Chinese revolution (Little Red Dumpling) and thus the brand runs with this theme, being comprised of modified propaganda art and low-fidelity typography in addition to a stark red colour scheme. The logo is based off a chok mark which, while being a little cliche, works to solidify the type hierarchy.
Print collateral included basic stationary, signage and menus, all set in red & black with cropped painterly mandarin characters. We were also asked to help with the interior shopfit, for which murals artwork was supplied, carrying on the propaganda theme.
The online presence consists of a simple, responsive one-page design displaying location and restaurant information. Set in the brand typography and elements set on location imagery.
