Don’t Cry for Me, Churrascaria
Navala Churrascaria is a Brazilian churrascaria (firepit) restaurant in the Eagle Street Pier district in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. I was asked to create a brand identity from an existing logo to rollout to instore and online touchpoints. This project was undertaken whilst working at Eightball.
Art Direction, Brand Identity, Print, Digital.
Being presented with a pre-existing logo, the mark was simplified and refined with the key feature, the striking zig-zag underlines, being used as the basis for the identity. To support the resulting pattern, bold san serif typefaces were used, backed up by a range of drawings taken directly from the in-store fit out. The logo itself was also worked as an enclosure, expanding to hold engaging type where appropriate.
Print touch points included menus, posters and flyers, as well as basic stationary. In all cases, cleanly placed type was juxtaposed with hard cropped artwork, utilising a stark black and orange palette. Patterns adorned unused surfaces for some added texture.
The website is an exercise in systems developed from the print materials, with bold food photography and vibrant interior shots providing bright visuals.
